Where is the Packman repo?

Release: 15 May 2011

The repo formally known as packman.unixheads.com is officially retired. On 12 May 2011, the server hosting the only US Packman repo had a terminal failure. The server was an aged server, and not really worth the expense to repair.

I spent a good part of the weekend trying to determine a work around and get it fixed, but to no avail. I started thinking that if the repo was offline to long, people would have already adjusted for the failure and moved to another server. At which point; time, effort, and money would have been wasted as there would potentially be no traffic on the server.

The mirror listing for Packman is available here: http://packman.links2linux.org/mirrors

As the server was hosted with ISC, there was no monthly recurring cost to me except for time, and at this point I can neither justify the cost of replacing the server nor the cost of paying for a dedicated server with a host someplace. If you have a server you would like to host the repo's on, please let me know, I will gladly point the DNS entry to you.

I would like to thank the users and supporters over the years, and a big thank you to ISC for hosting the server for free all these years.
